Christmas Unwrapped
Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier each year, and the danger is that we lose sight of why we're doing it.
At Christmas we celebrate the triumphy of hope, against all odds. Two thousand years ago the people of the middle east were waiting under occupation and violence for a saviour to come. The prophecies said he would be born in Bethlehem, and they had waited and hoped for hundreds of years without a sign.
Jesus was born, the fulfilment of those prophecies, to bring hope to life, and to bring salvation. In his name great things have been accomplished, but there remains much to do, to bring freedom and justice to all. I pray that we can hear again the story of Jesus, and allow him to re-kindle our hope for the future.
